Living life like an OAP: Empty Living life like an OAP:

Mon Feb 20, 2023 11:47 pm
When you suffer from EDS as I do, you do tend to live with the typical old age health issues, but we have it for LIFE.

We have the typical old age issues of:
Weak, saggy and fragile skin
We have MAJOR joint/muscle pains all the time
We bruise and scar easily
We have weak and fragile joints
We struggle to get around without some kind've walking aid
Our eyesight isn't all that great
We have MAJOR fatigue all the time
We can't really run
Our balance is messed up
We struggle with stairs
Etc...

We don't exactly get any pain free days., I can't remember the last pain free moment I had, it's been decades easily. All we know is pain, it's our normal. It's also how we may look, overall minus any mobility aids etc.., quite normal. Our chronic, constant pain is hidden, but it's there ALL the time.

EDS sufferers have our own pain scale too. It goes from 0-14+. The Paramedics 1-10 is useless for us. On a good day (I can't remember last good day), I'm at about a 12.
On a bad day (pretty much every single moment of every single day, plus when my shoulder dislocates), I'm at a 14+. This is my 'normal'. It has been for as long as I can remember.
